| I'll be competing
at as many of the BA (Bullriding Australia) Rodeos in 2003 as I
can get to, and you can check out
their 2003
schedule for all the dates. I may ride at other rodeos
as well if I can get to them, and I'll put information about any
of these on this page whenever I can.
You can access
the 2003
APRA Rodeo Schedule here, and I shall be riding in as many
of these events as I can get to this year as well.
UPDATE:
March 2003. Late start to the year, but here we go.
Got emails from a couple of people reminding me it is now well
into 2003 and my site was stuck in a time warp in 2002! It
was too, but we're off and running now. First event I
entered for 2003 was a big one. The Bullriding Australia
Superbull event in Melbourne on 22nd March. Boy, I wish
you could all have been there. The atmosphere was
something else! I drew two top bulls, Slazenger and Point
Break and rode time on both for fourth place. Grant Wells
won the event and it was well deserved. Great start to a
new season and one I'm pretty pleased with ... actually I'm a
bit more than pretty pleased, I'm happy as all heck! The
adrenaline is still running high and I haven't come back to
earth yet. I could get used to this sort of high and I'll
be working hard this year to achieve as much as I can.
UPDATE:
April 2003. Got to the Boulia rodeo on Easter weekend
and it was a top event. Really well run, some great
bullriders and bulls. I got second in the Bullride.
It was a fun weekend and I hope to get there again. Stayed
with Grant Wells for the week, got on a bunch of practice bulls
and had a ball. Returned to Katherine late in April with
just enough hours to prepare to leave for Darwin for another
Bullride.
UPDATE:
May 2003. Rode at Robbie Robins for the NCA
event in Darwin on Saturday, 3rd May. Came first in the Open
Bullride on Timmy Mac. Caught up with a lot of mates I
haven't seen for a fair while. Great time all round.
UPDATE:
May 19th 2003. Had the best
weekend ever at Mataranka Rodeo. A ball from start to end,
and I won the Open Bullride. If ever any of you reading
this get the chance, drop in to the Mataranka Rodeo here in the
Northern Territory. It's a unique experience and a great
opportunity to see how the bushmen kick up their heels and enjoy
themselves.
UPDATE:
July 13th 2003. Competed at the Bullriding Australia
event at Julia Creek, Queensland on 12th July. Excellent
event, top class bulls and I won. Heck of a weekend
catching up with all my bullriding mates again. I rode
Dodge Special and Swamp Thing, both really good bulls.
UPDATE:
September 26th 2003. Haven't had a chance to do any
updating for a while I've been so busy. July was a pretty
busy month, and after the Julia Creek event, I went on to
compete at Litchfield NT APRA rodeo and at the Katherine Show NT
achieving firsts in the bullride at both events. Also rode
at Longreach APRA rodeo for second place. My main event in
August was at the Townsville BA International event where I came
second after rides on Burko and Sleepmaker, two great
bulls. Did another trip to the Top End to compete at
Litchfield in the APRA Wrangler ProRodeo event for first
place. I am competing at Rathdowney, Qld in the BA Open
event tonight, and at Capella, Qld in the BA Open event tomorrow
night. I'm trying to get to as many of the BA events as I
can this season. Makes for a lot of travelling but the
rides make it worthwhile, and the bullriders usually try and
team up for the travelling.
UPDATE:
November 10th 2003. Well September ended without
anything much happening. Rode at Rathdowney and Capella
but didn't get anywhere at either. October came and went
pretty fast, but I did get a good ride at Noosa on 24th and
scored 4th place with rides on First Born for 80.5 points and 44
for 85.5 points. Pretty good start to November. Rode
at Kyogle on 8th and got 4th place with an 88 point ride on
Halloween. Hope it continues. Current position in
the BA Standings is 6th, and I'd like to improve on that.
UPDATE:
December 3rd 2003. Got a bit busy and didn't get to as
many events as I'd planned in November. Was going to ride on 20th December at Hervey
Bay but didn't make it. And in the meantime, I'm
getting organised for Christmas! Yep, it's here
again. Love this time of the year. In case I don't
get to doing another update before Christmas, Merry Christmas
to all of you.
UPDATE: December 30th 2003. Rode at
Mooloolaba on 26th and 27th December. Bucked off Wild West
on the first night, but came good on the second night and scored
a 92 point ride on Kamakaze Bomber to take first place.
Great event and I was really pleased with the result, especially
as that score on Kamikaze Bomber equalled Troy Dunn's Australian
Record ride on Chainsaw. Rode
tonight in the CRCA Finals at the Great Western in Rockhampton
and scored 82.5 points and took third place. I'll be
riding again at the Great Western New Years Eve Bullride in
Rockhampton tomorrow, 31st December and have drawn Stranger
Danger. I'm lined up to ride again at Mooloolaba on 2nd
and 3rd January but don't know yet what I'll be riding.
UPDATE:
January 5th 2004. Although this is the new year, I'll
continue putting the Bullriding Australia results here, because
they'll be part of the 2003 season of events. Rode 7.5
seconds on Stranger Danger at Rockhampton on New Years
Eve. Half a second more and I'd have scored ... but there
you go. That's life. Scored 80 points on Wild West
at Mooloolaba on 2nd January, but it wasn't high enough to
place. I'll be competing at the Final for the 2003 season
on 16th and 17th January at Tamworth NSW. That should be a
great event and I'm looking forward to it.
Update:
January 31st 2004. Wrap up for 2003 bullriding
year. Rode in the BA Finals at Tamworth on 16th and 17th
January. Didn't do anything noteworthy on the 16th on
Wooly Bully, High Five or my reride, Kat. Scored 83 points
on Caveman on 17th, but didn't make time on Magpie. My
overall position in the Bullriding Australia Standings for 2003
was 5th. Pretty pleased with the result. It's been a
good year, I've had plenty of rides, heaps of fun and met loads
of people. Looking forward to the 2004 season now and hope
to meet some of you around the traps. Cheers.
Happy
New Year to all of you, and many thanks for all the support
you've shown in 2003
